From this site, click on "Frequently Asked Questions" and
review.
Discuss the phrase "empty magnification" and how it relates
to numerical aperture of an objective. Post to the bulletin board your
definition of “empty magnification”.
Go back to Introduction to
Microscopy and click
on "Light and Color" and review, including links.
Discuss whether a salt (NaCl) crystal is isotropic or anisotropic and
why. Also explain how these crystals should look using a polarized light
microscope with crossed polars.
Go
back to Introduction to
Microscopy and click
on "Anatomy of a Microscope" and review, including the links.
Finally,
Go to the Virtual Microscopy site (http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/virtual/virtual.html
) and go through each of the Java applets for the virtual microscope
operation. Post which of these you personally liked best and why.
Click
on the Fiber Case button on the left to solve a crime using Fiber Case
Analysis.
