1 Select control points in the Top viewport and drag to make the bill wider.

 

2 Press Esc repeatedly until control points are off.
3 Shade the Perspective viewport.
4 Click in a viewport to exit shaded mode.



 
For the final rendering, the bill must be a different color from the body, so they must be separate surfaces. You can split a single surface into multiple surfaces many ways. The following technique is just one.

To make the head and bill two separate surfaces, split it with a curve. It is easiest to draw a planar curve and project it to the surface to create a non-planar curve on the surface.

1 From the Curve menu, click Free-form, and then click Interpolate Points.
2 In the Front viewport create a curve that looks like the red curve below.


1 From the Curve menu, click From Objects, then click Project.
2 At the Select curves to project prompt, in the Front view, select the curve (1) and press Enter.

3 At the Select surfaces or polysurfaces to project onto prompt, select the head (2), and press Enter.
The curve is projected onto the head.

4 Delete the original curve.
