Color: AOII has only one color, cardinal red.
Jewel: The ruby is the official jewel of AOII.
Mascot: Although not an official symbol, the panda is AOII’s mascot and was chosen because it has no natural-born enemies.
Sheaf of Wheat: The sheaf of wheat symbolizes our uniqueness bonded together. The new member pin resembles a sheaf of wheat.
Flower: Our flower is the Jacqueminot rose. It was chosen because of its deep red color that symbolizes the essential virtue of our Fraternity.

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on January 2, 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City. Our four founders, Stella George Stern Perry, Helen St. Clair, Elizabeth Heywood Wyman, and Jessie Wallace Hughan were friendly, adventurous and devoted to each other. They were determined to create a society that was self-governing and simple and they created just that with AOII. Now, after 112 years, AOII has over 180 collegiate chapters and over 130,000 initiated members throughout the United States and Canada.
Florida International University’s Pi Theta Chapter of AOII was founded on January 20, 2001 and is not only one of FIU’s largest organizations on campus, but also the fastest growing chapter at FIU.
The Badge
The badge of Alpha Omicron Pi is composed of the three initial letters of the three words of the Motto, superimposed one upon the next in order, which gives the Fraternity its name. Badges may be worn by initiated members only.
