2.  For new courses and changes to courses, the following information must also be submitted in an electronic format (floppy disk or cd):

  1. syllabus (must include the following information: objectives, learning outcomes, major topics, and textbook)
  2. course description
  3. course justification
  4. for new course proposals, include a letter or email of support from the chair of each department or program listed in item #11 What closely related department(s) have been consulted about this course?

It is very important that the Proposal for a New Course and the Course Change/Deletion Request forms be complete and accurate. We have provided detailed information on how to complete the forms at the links below:

Guidelines for completing the new course proposals and the course changes.

Guidelines for creating the learning objectives, which are now required for all new courses and course changes.

Changes to Current Programs

Any changes to existing programs need to be submitted through the curricular process.  These include changes to the major, certificates, minors, and tracks.  The following is required for each change:

  1. A cover sheet must accompany each proposal (Changes to current undergraduate and graduate programs)
  2. The beginning of the document should provide a justification for the changes proposed.
  3. The changes must be presented in a two-column format with the left column listing the current requirements and the right column listing the proposed changes. Either underline or bold the proposed changes.
  4. Instructional Check List must be completed (found at Changes to current undergraduate and graduate programs).

Submit 1 paper copy and an electronic version (cd or floppy).

Proposals for New Programs

Proposals for new minors, certificates, or tracks must be submitted through the curricular process.  The following is required for each proposal:

  1. A cover sheet must accompany each proposal (New current undergraduate and graduate programs).
  2. The Instructional Check List for each new proposal lists the information required as part the submission. Be sure to address each requirement in the text. The Instructional Check List is found at Changes to current undergraduate and graduate programs.
  3. A paper copy and an electronic version (floppy or cd) of the proposal.

Proposals for new degrees require a lengthier and more complex process.  The first step is for the chair to discuss the proposed degree program with the Dean to ensure that the College supports the proposed degree.
