Submissions for the 2005 AWP Conference
on FEMINIST PSYCHOLOGY: FUTURE TENSE are now being
accepted through Friday,
October 8, 2004. The
Conference will be held in Tampa, Florida from Feb. 24-27, 2005, and
will focus on the consequences for and creative responses of women in
the current political climate.

for more information on specific topics sought. Proposals for symposia,
papers, posters, and workshops addressing topics in all areas of feminist
psychology are invited. International
submissions are welcome, and papers authored or co-authored by students
are also encouraged. Proposal
summaries should not exceed 500 words and must include an
abstract that is no longer than 50 words. In addition
to these requirements for each paper, a 50-word abstract for
each symposium should be included. Audio-visual

PRE-CONFERENCE EVENTS - THURS., FEB. 24, 2005 PRE-CONFERENCE TRAINING SEMINARS - The Association for Women in Psychology offers ini-courses (i.e., workshops) that last one half-day or one full day. They are designed to provide extended learning experiences and professional development in a specific area. Presenters will receive a portion of workshop attendance fees. Training seminars will be considered for APA and other continuing education credits as appropriate. PRE-CONFERENCE
INSTITUTES AND CAUCUS MEETINGS - The Association
for Women in Psychology features a Women of Color Caucus,
Jewish Women's Caucus, Experimental Psychologists' Caucus,
Caucus for Bisexuality and Sexual Diversity, and a Students'
Caucus. These groups traditionally feature gatherings lasting
one-half day or full day on topics of interest to caucus members,
which are arranged directly through the Caucus chairs.
February
25-27, 2005 (Friday-Sunday)
INDIVIDUAL
PAPER PROPOSAL (75 minutes)-
appropriate for presentations that will focus on an individual
research, clinical or theoretical topic.
After acceptance/rejection of proposals has been determined,
the conference co-chairs will group paper presentations into
sessions consisting of 3-5 presentations.
(Each paper session at the conference will be allotted
75 minutes. The
amount of time allowed for each individual presentation will
be determined by the total number of presentations involved).
SYMPOSIUM OR PANEL PROPOSAL (75 minutes)- appropriate for a coordinated group of four presentations (4 presentations minimum; 5 maximum) that will focus on one topic or offer differing perspectives on some problem or issue. Each participant and the topics to be discussed should be outlined in the proposal. The commitment of each participant as well as the Chair and Discussant should be secured before submitting the proposal. POSTER PRESENTATION (75 minutes)- poster session (to run concurrently with other sessions). Presentations will be displayed on boards measuring 4 X 6 ft. WORKSHOP STRUCTURED DISCUSSION (75 minutes) - Speakers present their ideas and facilitate group discussion. Designed to bring together those working on similar problems. The focus is on discussing new ideas and engaging in problem solving. MEDIA PRESENTATION (75 minutes)- Films, slide shows, poetry or prose reading, dramatic presentations, etc. LUNCH ROUNDTABLE (75 minutes)- Informal lunch for networking around a specific topic facilitated by proposer. WELLNESS ACTIVITIES (varying times). Activities oriented toward physical, mental, and/or spiritual health, including Yoga, jogging, walking/hiking, meditation, Tai Chi, reflexology, massage, and dance. The deadline for submissions is extended to Friday, October 8, 2004. All proposals should be submitted electronically via the conference website (go to the appropriate link above). Proposals should not exceed 500 words per individual paper and must include an abstract that is no longer than 50 words. (Note: In addition to the 500/50 word limit to be provided for each paper and abstract in a symposium, an additional 50 word abstract for the symposium should be included.)
