Child Care Information

The 2005 Association for Women in Psychology 30th Annual Conference will be held Feb. 24-27 at the Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel in Tampa, Florida. Tampa is 20 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico's white sandy beaches. Bring your swimsuit.

The Association for Women in Psychology is a not-for-profit scientific and educational organization committed to encouraging feminist psychological research, theory, and activism. A feminist voice since 1969, we are an organization with a history of affirming and celebrating differences, deepening challenges, and experiencing growth as feminists.

Presentations at the 2005 AWP Conference will address topics in all areas of Feminist Psychology.  Go to Theme for more information about this year's conference theme, Feminist Psychology: Future Tense. Professionals, academics, and students interested in the field are invited to attend. 

The conference will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 25th, and run through noon on Sunday, February 27thPre-conference Training Seminars also will be available on Thursday, February 24th, (and will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm).  Conference presenters should click here for important information!

Invited Speakers include: Cynthia Kaufman, ""Completing the Feminist Revolution: Unfinished Business, Unintended Consequences, and Utopian Visions"; Carole Stabile, Carrie Rentschler & Rhoda Unger, "Political Psychology: States of Insecurity and the Gendered Politics of Fear"; Kathleen Heide & Eldra Solomon, "Recent Findings in Neurophysiology: Implications for Women Trauma Survivors in the Mental Health and Criminal Justice Systems"; and Judith Halberstam, author of "Female Masculinity."

In addition, a Feminist Psychology Science Track will be cohosted by AWP and the Society for the Psychology of Women/Div. 35 of APA. SWP members are invited to submit proposals to the general conference and/or attend at the AWP member rate.

The deadline for proposal submissions is October 8, 2004.  Proposals will be peer-reviewed, and authors will be notified in late November regarding acceptance.  The conference program will be available online when it is completed!  Conference registration will be posted on the website by December 1, 2004. 

Attendees are encouraged to book hotel accommodations at the Harbour Island Wyndham Hotel early, as attendance is expected to exceed that of previous years. Meeting room space depends on the number of rooms that AWP fills. Please help make the conference a success by staying at the Conference Hotel. When reserving a room, indicate that you are with the AWP conference.
