Grading Policy

• There will be 3 take home quizzes and 4 Lab Prep assignments (10 points each, 70 points) due during the semester as shown on the schedule.
• There will be DAILY LAB REPORTS due at the end of each lab (5 points each, 40 points total).
  
• The reports will be on the experiments performed during the lab and will be due at the end of the lab.
• All assignments will be prepared individually by each student. Assignments sharing substantial verbiage will be given a grade of "0".
• Assignments are due by the end of the day on the date indicated for your section (refer to schedule). 
• Daily Lab Reports should include all data from that day...and, The Conclusions should be written INDIVIDUALLY.  Sharing conclusions will result in a grade of 0.
  
• Lab Mid-Term-30 points Final Exam - 60 points.

Tentative Grade Scale:

• A 180-200 points
• B 160-179 points
• C 140-159 points
• D 120-139 points
• F Less than 120 points
• Point totals are rounded to the nearest whole point.  The TA's will consult with the Professor in charge of the lab before assigning final grades for input into Panther Soft.  This means the tentative grade scale can change based on unforseen situations.
  

General Policies:

• CHEATING AND PLAGARISM ARE NOT TOLERATED!. Students who cheat or plagiarize from someone else or an Internet source will be dismissed from the class and given an "F" for the course. 
• Students will automatically receive an "F" if they have 3 or more unexcused absences.

• Laboratory coat (available for purchase at bookstore)
• Safety goggles (available for purchase at bookstore)
• Ability to computer generate graphs, e.g. Excel, Quattro, various statistical packages.
• For each week, students must print out the Lab Protocol from the course web site for that week and READ IT before class. Be sure to bring the protocol to class!
