4.
You observe that a child in your class always keeps to herself.
Amanda is 9 years old and an only child. You have met her parents
during open house and both were very nice. They both work long hours,
but seem to spend time with their daughter on the the weekend, taking
trips and visiting local sites. The girl does not play with other
children and often prefers to eat by herself. When you talk to her
one day and ask her about her social life and the other kids, she
tells you about the babysitter who watches her everyday after school.
After talking with her for a while, she begins to discuss the "touching
games" her babysitter plays with her. These "touching
games" involve the babysitter touching the girl on her chest
and inside her underwear. Amanda tells you that the babysitter then
has her touch her in the same way. She tells you that her babysitter
told her not to tell anyone, but that she does not really like it.
You tell the school counselor, who tells you she will take
care of it and report it. She takes the child into her office that
afternoon. What should you do now?
