What to do with 6XX _1 subject headings (Children's subject headings) on non-DLC/DLC records:

    1. delete the 6XX _1 heading when there is a legitimate 6XX _0 heading which is just like the 6XX _1.
    2. when there is not a matching legitimate 6XX _0, check to see if the subject heading in the 6XX _1 field is in fact a legitimate LC subject heading. If it is, change it to 6XX _0 and subdivide it by an appropriate juvenile form subdivision in subfield v. The most common ones are:
        Juvenile drama
        Juvenile fiction
        Juvenile literature
        Juvenile poetry
    3. if the 6XX _1 is not a legitimate LC subject heading, look for an obvious comparable LC subject heading--for example, Babies is a children's subject heading; Infants is the comparable adult subject heading. As above, the adult heading should be subdivided by the appropriate juvenile form subdivision.
    4. if there is no obvious comparable LC subject heading, check with Mirtha.

Note: children's subject headings are coded "Subj: b" in the fixed field of series authority records.
