1. Atkins Problem 14.1
2. Atkins Problem 14.6 (short)
3. Atkins Problem 14.7
4. Atkins Problem 14.8 (short)
5. Atkins Problem 14.14. This problem applies symmetry to evaluate selection rules for electronic transitions. Part (a) requires no hint. For part (b), you might for example consider formaldehyde. Take the n orbital to be the py orbital on the oxygen, where the z axis is coincident with the C-O bond and the y axis lies in the plane of the molecule.
