The aging of the baby-boom generation and unprecedented increases in average life span will define the first third of the 21st century.  The Center focuses on emerging patterns of health, retirement, and later life activity for older adults, including issues related to preparation of retirement and the experience of retirement, as well as projections of changes in the community that will occur as a result of growth of the older population over the next three decades.  This theme incorporates topics such as planning for an aging society, roles of elders in society, and the impact of lifestyles of older adults on health and longevity.
