The Department of Biological Sciences DNA Core facility is fully equipped for DNA sequencing, fragment analysis, and data analysis. The laboratory is a 1,000 sq ft facility housed in the Health and Life Sciences Building.

This service is provided for FIU Faculty and Students in Biology and related disciplines, with sequencing or fragment analysis needs.

DNA sequencing and Fragment Analysis are carried out on three Applied Biosystems 3100 Genetic Analyzers with Sequencing Analysis and GeneScan software.

As of August 1st, 2004, the CORE will start offering two levels of service for DNA Sequencing. Level 1 will consist of a load-only service (user provides completed reactions). Level 2 will provide a full sequencing service (user provides template and primers) for an additional fee.
