The Bioinorganic and Environmental Analytical Facility (BEAF) is operated as a recharge center within College of Arts and Sciences at FIU. This facility is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and provides teaching, research and service support for environmental and biomedical analyses. Activities in the Facility include graduate student support, grant support, class laboratory instruction, workshop support, and casework. In addition to providing supports for university research and education activities, the Facility also provides fee-based service to the scientific community outside the university.
The BEAF (formerly Mercury Lab, SERCMLAB) is accredited by National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) for analysis of mercury (total and methylmercury) and other 20 plus metals in environmental and biological matrices.
