The Fine Arts Student Association (FASA) was established in the summer of 1995. Since then, we have acquired the GC Gallery, hosted speakers such as artists Adrian Arguedas, gallery owner Fredrick Snitzer and others, hosted an Iron Pour, held workshops such as Aluminum casting, Visual Arts Panel Discussions, Independent and Art film nights, publication of literary and arts magazine Texture and more. We will continue with most of these activities in order to foster the growth of the voice of the ARTS within the FIU and Miami-Dade communities.

But that is not enough!

In order to grow as an arts community, we need to expand. We need PEOPLE! People build a community. We would like to have afternoon music performances combining visual and performing art shows. We would like to extend invitations to future speakers and workshop leaders. To build a community that fosters creativity and provides places or times of gathering for people interested in the arts, we are going to need your membership. Specific areas we could use help in are administration, fund raising, community service, publication of the FASA newsletter, maintenance of the FASA Web Page and last but not least, sharing of your artistic spirit.

The FASA office is located in room 110 at the Sculpture Studios in W1. Official meetings are held there on the second Tuesday of every month. The phone number is (305) 348-2901, ask for Chuck, Maggie or Tonie. You can send us an email at fasa@fiu.edu.
