Cuba: Birth of movement of catholic university students

HAVANA, JUN 10 (ZENIT).- A group of university students in Cuba have decided to study the faith more profoundly and have announced the creation of a Movement of Catholic University Students.

The members of the new movement, whose primary objective is to bring evangelical values to the university world, meet every week in the parish of Our Lady of Carmen, located in the center of Havana. During the weekly meetings, the students spend time in reflection and exchange faith experiences; they also spend time in prayer and in studying spiritual topics. According to members of the movement, the initiative was taken in response to the situation of university students, who often do not have the time or opportunity to study the Catholic faith. In addition, the students hope to "stimulate a critical look at the world that surrounds them, and the commitment the university student must make to those around him."
