`Fidel' forever?

Fidel Leon Perez Peraza had a problem with his name. An activist in a dissident group in Havana, he tried to change it.

``Which name?'' he was asked at his local identity-card office, according to an independent press report from Cuba. ``Fidel,'' he replied -- and was fined 350 pesos ($21-$22). That name change will never be permitted, he reportedly was told.

Too bad. Worse still is that Fidel Castro won't permit himself to be changed.
