Havana, June 11, 1999 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad) – Prisoner of conscience on parole Reinaldo Alfaro García was threatened by State Security due to his participation in the fast that has been going on at Tamarindo 34 street of the building Santos Suárez since Monday June 7.

According to Alfaro, Nelson de Armas a Colonel of the political police told him on the phone that he was putting in danger his status of parole for having been part of the fasters this past June 8.

Alfaro reiterated to Cuba-Verdad that his participation in the fast in favor of freedom for the political prisoners and respect for human rights in Cuba "is more than something I ought to do, but something I am obliged to do."
