Applicants must be in grades six through twelve and have a social security card. They must also meet at least one of the academic and one of the economic criteria in order to participate in the program.

ECONOMIC CRITERIA
Low Income as defined by the Florida Department of Education.
The student receives free or reduced lunch.
The student receives public assistance.
The student receives AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children).

ACADEMIC CRITERIA
The student will be first-generation-in-college.
The student’s GPA is below 2.5.
The student’s FCAT scores in math or reading are below average.
The student has been retained.
The student is enrolled in drop out prevention.
