FIU had the pleasure of having Dr. Leonard Baca, Executive Director of the BUENO Center 
for Multicultutral Education from the University of Colorado present on 
"The Interface of ESOL and Special Education."

Dr. Baca presented on the importance of taking into account ESOL when teaching Exceptional Students. Dr. baca emphasized on the ideal sense of Bilingual Special Education in the U.S., by defining it as the use of the home language and the home culture  along with English in an individually designed program of special instruction for the student.
