The Fujita Scale
Tornadoes are measured by the Fujita scale (F-scale), which
determine the wind speed by the actual damage it produces:

What occurs at the Different Scales:
- F0- Minimal damage to chimneys, shallow
trees
uprooted, and tree branches broken off.
- F1- Peels surface off of roofs, mobile
homes
overturned, autos pushed off road.
- F2- Considerable damage; roofs torn off of
houses, large trees uprooted and/or snapped, light-
object missiles generated.
- F3- Brutal damage; roofs and possibly
walls torn off, trains overturned, heavy cars lifted off
of the ground, most forest trees uprooted.
- F4- Well-constructed houses leveled,
cars thrown and large missiles generated.
- F5- Strong frame houses lifted off foundations
and crumbled, car-sized missiles fly through the air in
excess of 100 mph; trees debarked.
