History at FIU: Dr. Farouk started working at FIU in 1991 as a tenure-earning Assistant Professor in Social Studies/Global Education and Curriculum Studies. He became a tenured Associate Professor in 1997.  He served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Education, Chairperson of the Departments of Subject Specializations and Curriculum and Instruction,  and Director of the Global Awareness Program.
Brief Vita: Dr. Farouk received his Doctoral and Master's degrees in Curriculum and Instruction/Social Studies Education. He has published a number of articles and book chapters mostly on social studies/global education.  He has presented numerous refereed papers and invited addresses at various local, national, and international professional conferences, organized seminars and workshops, served as a consultant to school districts on global and multicultural education, and served in leadership positions in professional and community organizations at the local, national, and international levels.
