Application Requirements:
The requirements for admission to the graduate program in Mechanical
Engineering for applicants having a Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, from an accredited
program are the following:
- GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 in the last 60 credit
hours attempted.
- GRE verbal plus quantitative plus analytical of
at least 1650 points.
- Three letters of recommendation on the forms
provided by the department.
Applicants having a Master’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited
program must also satisfy the above requirements for admission to the
doctoral program. Additionally, a GPA of at least 3.3/4.0 in the
Master’s program is required. Credentials of applicants with
non-traditional educational credentials will be examined by the ME
Department Graduate Committee on a case-by-case basis. A request by an
FIU graduate student to change their major to Mechanical Engineering
will be treated as a normal application for admission. In addition to
the departmental requirements, all students must satisfy the
University’s Graduate Policies and Procedure.
