Brief Description of the Program:

     The Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (ADBA) program curriculum is offered in three (3) quarters—Fall, Winter and Spring—during a nine-month period. During each of the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, students take nine credit-hours and participate in business and professional communication seminars (one (1) credit-hour per quarter), including advanced and business English. Each quarter is ten weeks long for classes, with an additional week for final exams.

      Classes are held Monday through Friday in two-hour blocks (8-10 a.m., 10 a.m. -12 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 3-5 p.m.) as required to complete the coursework for the quarter. The typical week includes about 15 hours in the classroom.

     To earn their degree, students must complete successfully the full set of courses totaling 30 credit-hours and the set of business and professional communication seminars .

Business and Professional Communication Seminars

Students are required to attend specially-designed professional development seminars. These seminars focus on the following topics: leadership, team-building skills, oral and written presentation skills, advanced and business English, and career preparation.

Application Requirements:

    We admit students to the Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (ADBA) program on a competitive basis.

    Admission to the program requires meeting the general requirements for admission to graduate programs at Florida International University. These requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university.
  • demonstration of high promise of success in graduate studies as determined by the faculty; and
  • minimum 2.3 undergraduate upper-division grade point average (GPA)

Additional Requirements for International Students:
  • Students whose native language is not English also must obtain a minimum score of 550 on the TOEFL (213 on the computer-based test), or an equivalent score on a comparable exam.
