Apparent from the beginning of Younger Brother, is that he is a man of ascending importance in his community, and that his exile is caused by the manipulative behavior of his brother’s wife. As the story continues, many of the subsequent perils he endures, are also rendered him by the women he encounters, each of which is representative of a single part of a progressive triad of threats that culminate in a complete loss of freedom.
In this universe, they have the ability to seduce and capture him with gargantuan limbs, to poison his thoughts with brain soup and ultimately to completely emasculate him via vaginal teeth.
In his victories over these women, Younger Brother is contextually branded a hero, making this both a sort of “dragon slayer” cum initiation tale as well as a creation myth that concludes (like Adam and Eve,) in a final fall from grace for all of mankind.
