OPTION ONE:
The first night I briefly talked about mimetic or realistic art, in which the
goal is, more or less, to accurately mirror or discover the "real" world rather
than to impose value or subjective meaning on it. Romantics, however,
typically are more interested in insight than sight, on diving
internally/vertically rather than traveling and seeing horizontally. In
your response paper, address this issue of verticality/insight in any of the
Emerson or Thoreau e-texts .
OPTION TWO:
Make a reasonably focused point about either Emerson's Journal entries or
Thoreau's Walden.
