IFRI Brochure from CAPS: http://www.fiu.edu/~caps/IFRI/ The Forensic Science academic
program includes core courses in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biology.
Elective courses are available from these departments and the Departments
of Criminal Justice, Physics, Earth Sciences, and Psychology. M.S.
and Ph.D degrees are also available in these departments. Two multidisciplinary
academic programs are based out of the Chemistry Department, and
undergraduate Forensic Science Certificate and a Master of Science
in Forensic Science.
There are two options for enrollment:
LEARN AT OUR LAB:
Traditional programs are available on the University Park Campus
located in Miami for undergraduate and graduate students who prefer
to enroll in the resident program at FIU.
LEARN AT YOUR LAB:
FIU's e-learning option allows practicing forensic professionals
to study at their own convenience, logging on to the course at
any time from any remote location. Students using computers across
the U.S. and around the world participate in academically rigorous,
web-based instruction and interact directly with faculty and fellow
students. Admission to graduate e-learning courses requires that
students (1) be employed in a forensic lab and (2) have permission
to use the laboratory facility for research. The three core courses
for the M.S. in Forensic Science will be offered in a fully online
format starting with the fall 2001 term. Elective courses are also
available online. Some courses require a face-to-face meeting in
Miami for hands-on experience with faculty and area professionals.
Undergraduate e-learning courses are open to students who meet
the pre-requisites for the undergraduate Certificate in Forensic
Science.
College of Continuing and Professional Studies

and trainings via the College of Continuing and Professional Studies.
