Comparison of selected questions over the last 10 years: percents based on total including "don't know" responses

Note: the percentages in this comparison were calculated based on a total that includes "don't know" responses (the 10-year comparison tables given out at the conference were calculated the same way). The other tables here and in the slides at the conference were calculated excluding "don't know" answers. For this reason the 2000 poll percentages in this 10-year table are slightly different from those in the other tables that look only at the current poll.
To get the exact counts and percents: for the current 2000 poll see
Full frequency tabulations for three samples below. This gives the percentage based on a total including "don't know" ("percent") and excluding "don't know" ("valid percent").
A table with the 10-year comparison percentages calculated excluding "don't know" is below. You can also download (at your own risk) this spreadsheet with the counts and percentages: 10yr.xls.
