The following section outlines the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution involvement in

         the Admissions Clearance Process:

1            1.    1. When the applicant completes his/her FIU application and indicates either “yes” or

neglects to check off an answer to one of the following questions, the application is

placed on a “judicial hold” by the Office of Admissions.

   a.) YesNo

Are you currently or have you ever been charged with or subject to

disciplinary action for scholastic or any other type of misconduct at

                                 any educational institution?

   b.) Yes  No

Have you ever been charged with a violation of  the law which resulted

in or, if still pending, could result in, probation, community service, a

jail sentence, the revocation or suspension of your driver's

license (including traffic violations which resulted in a

                                 fine of $200 or more)?

If your records have been expunged pursuant to applicable law, you

are not required to answer yes to these questions.  If you are unsure whether

you should answer yes to these questions, we strongly suggest that you

answer yes and fully disclose all incidents.  By doing so you can avoid any

risk of disciplinary action or revocation of an offer of admissions.

      3. An applicant does not have to wait to receive this letter in order for the

application process to continue. All applicants must submit the following

documentation in order for a review and recommendation

          to be made:

This information will be reviewed by an Admissions

Clearance Committee, which is chaired by a member within the office

Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution. The Committee will

contact the applicant if additional information is required.

The Committee will make a recommendation to the Office

of Admissions regarding the application for admissions.

The recommendation will not be disclosed to the applicant.

                        5.  The Admission Clearance process may take several weeks
