Interlibrary Loan Lending Policy
Services to Other Libraries

This policy statement is intended other libraries requiring interlibrary loan assistance from the FIU Library.

FIU and SUS Faculty, Staff, and currently enrolled students should consult the FIU Interlibrary Loan home page for information and instructions. FIU Alumni, non-SUS, and non-FIU affiliated Patrons should contact the public library for ILL service. Interlibrary Loan service from FIU is available only for employees and currently enrolled students.

General Information
For ownership and library holdings information, please verify in WebLUIS or OCLC prior to submitting a request. There are two libraries to which requests may be sent. Each library is a separate OCLC location. Prior to submitting a request, please ensure that you are submitting the request to the appropriate FIU Library.

Procedures
Submit a request via OCLC, an ALA form, or an email request with complete bibliographic and contact information. Email addresses for both FIU Libraries are listed above. You may fax your ALA form. SEFLIN and FLIN libraries must use the appropriate consortium form if faxing. Telephone requests are not accepted. Incomplete requests may experience delays in processing. The Library of Florida International University is closed in observance of various state and federal holidays. Additionally, the ILL Office is open weekdays from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm (US Eastern Time Zone). Fax and email requests received by 9:00 am daily will be included within that day's processing. Rush requests must be received by 9:00 am daily.

Fees
Invoices are included with the material. Payments must be made in U.S. Dollars. Please do not send cash or travelers cheques. Unless a reciprocal agreement has been established, or your library is a SEFLIN, FLIN, SOLINET, LVIS, or ASERL institution, the following charges will apply. There is no charge for searching our collection.

Loan Periods and Renewal Request Procedures
Initial loan periods are 28 days. Telephone requests are not accepted. If possible, renewals can be granted for a further 28 days. Only one renewal is allowed. Submit OCLC renewal requests via OCLC. Submit all other renewal requests via fax and provide your library name, telephone and fax numbers, and the title of the material.

Materials Not Available for Lending
The following materials are not available for lending: periodicals, reference, newspapers, special collection, and reserve.

Materials Available for Lending
The following materials are available for lending with special conditions, if applicable, listed in the parentheses: general collection, theses and dissertations (if a second copy is available), government documents (not all materials are available), audio-visual (not all materials are available).

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. You may reach the appropriate FIU Library by telephone or email. Interlibrary loan requests via email only from other libraries are accepted only from non-OCLC libraries (incomplete email requests will be returned).
