Cira Mendez is our Employee of the Month for April.

Cira joined our staff in an USPS capacity in June, 1981. During the period since that time , she has worked in the Catalog Department, in the former Latin America and Caribbean Collection, and most recently, in the Serials Department. It is in the Serials Department that Ms. Mendez has come into her own. She has assisted the department, in a major way, through several major transitions in the past few years.

She is currently in charge of computerized check-in of current periodicals and of stack maintenance for current periodicals. Cira gives one hundred percent to her job. In the words of her supervisor, "She takes a great deal of pride in her work and goes above and beyond to see that assignments are meticulously completed. She is a real asset to the department and someone upon whom you can always rely."

Ms. Mendez was able to make a change from one check-in system to another very different one in a brief period of time. She takes as a matter of personal pride maintenance of good shelf order in current periodicals.

It is a pleasure to recognize her years of long service and her present work as a member of the serials staff.
