It is a pleasure to announce that our Employee of the Month for August is Carmen Cartaya.

Ms. Cartaya has worked with FIU for ten years. She has spent half that time in the library and half with Visual Arts. During her library service, she has worked as Evening Library Technical Assistant, and more recently in intercampus loans.

Carmen is a dedicated and talented member of the library staff. She has undertaken the following special projects: handbook for the SEFLIN consortium library privilege; procedures for using the VAX intercampus loan form; assistance of the Reference staff in LUIS instruction; and student assistant staffing and scheduling charts for Access Services.

It is with great appreciation that we recognize Carmen Cartaya's contribution to the FIU Libraries and library services.
