Our Employee of the Month for February is Cynthia Dottin, Senior Library Technical Assistant in the Reference Department of University Park Library.

Ms. Dottin has worked in libraries for over ten years and in ours for four. Her smiling face and professional assistance are well known to our hundreds of freshmen who take her classes each semester.

Although everyone in the Reference Department is involved in the Library Instruction Program, Cynthia is the only non-librarian who teaches as many classes, and in some cases more classes, than the librarians. In one semester, her library instruction reached almost seven hundred students.

Her supervisor, Patty Iannuzzi, says of her, "She is a natural in the classroom, tailoring sessions to suit specific assignments and involving students in active participation. At the reference desk, she can consistently be relied upon to offer helpful, patient assistance to library users. Her knowledge of reference sources is extensive. The entire FIU Community benefits from her contributions to reference services."

It is indeed a privilege to extent to Cynthia Dottin this recognition.
