Employee of the Month July 2000

As many of you know, our Employee of the Month for July is Nora Ferrer who has served the University Libraries and FIU for twenty-seven years. She came to us in 1973 as a student assistant. In October, 1974 she was given the job of Library Technical Assistant. She was subsequently promoted to Senior Library Technical Assistant and, finally, to Archivist. She holds the B.A. from FIU in Hospitality Management.

Nora is responsible for a variety of cataloging tasks including metadata. Her cataloging output is the highest in the department. She is continually attending training sessions on her own initiative to learn more about new computer programs and cataloging technologies.

Ms. Ferrer is a reliable and consistent worker who needs little supervision. She is always willing to take on new responsibilities, to learn more, and to seek new challenges. Her peers know her for her good sense of humor, cooperative spirit, and approachable nature.

It is a pleasure to extend congratulations to her for this well-deserved recognition.
