It is my very great pleasure to announce that Deborah Safford is our employee of the Month for June.

Debby has been a helpful and user­friendly presence in the Circulation area of University Park Library for eleven years. Her personal qualities, combining charm and firmness, are not wasted in her current position. Ms. Safford helps students and faculty cope with many problem aspects of the library/user interface, including fines, bills, and questions regarding the return of books. She works closely with other circulation staff as well as the University's Accounts Receivable, the Registrar's Office, and the University's computer infrastructure. Under sometimes difficult circumstances, library users and the staff of all these offices speak highly of her disposition and attitude as she works to unravel problems generated by FIU's complex financial infrastructure, not to mention the lack of understanding of the library's rules and regulations on the part of library users.

We all appreciate the work that Debby undertakes in making the library as hospitable as possible to the University Community when problems and misunderstandings arise. We welcome the chance to extend to her recognition as Employee of the Month for June.
