It gives me great pleasure to announce that Aurora Barrios, Senior Library Technical Assistant in Serials at University Park, is our Employee of the Month for September.

When she came to FIU in 1984, she brought with her eleven years of library experience, having worked in the Serials Section at University of Florida from 1973 and later in Latin American Collection/Serials, also at UF.

Aurora undertakes a variety of tasks in her area. These include setting up LUIS records for all serials orders; tracking changes of title; verifying invoices; and general trouble­shooting. She also researches information on new serials requests for the Serials Committee.

In her contact with library staff and patrons, she is helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant, doing her part to extend the philosophy of service to her area. She demonstrates a great deal of pride in her work, something that is reflected in the quality performance standards she sets for herself.
