Employee of the Month September 1997

I am delighted to announce that Beverly Paden is our Employee of the Month for September. Beverly is the first individual to receive this distinction twice.

Most members of the staff of both libraries will be well aware of the reason this honor has been accorded. In her capacity as Circulation Coordinator, University Park Library, there is the leadership demonstrated during the recent move; and her oversight of all the circulation functions that helps to determine whether the library "face" is a fundamentally a friendly one. Many of the problems that arise between the library and its users must be resolved at the circulation desk. It is a pleasure to have such complete confidence that these situations are and will be dealt with in such a completely satisfactory manner. As most of you are aware, Beverly's area consists not just of the circulation desk but, through those who report to her, of reserve services and stack maintenance as well.

In addition to continuing to work hard and dependably as Circulation Coordinator, she has been accorded leadership of the USPS Senate where she has initiated efforts in support of library fundraising. We have also appreciated her efforts to encourage socialization within her area of responsibility and beyond. Photos of current and past staff, and of parties she has organized, testify to these efforts.

As we recognize Beverly's continuing work in behalf of the University Community, I know that you will join me in extending congratulations to her.
