Employee of the Month
September 1998

It is with great pleasure that i recognize Melissa Silva as our Employee of the Month for September. Melissa began working for UP Circulation in September, 1995 as an OPS student worker. She joined the ranks of USPS staff as Library Technical Assistant in charge of the bound periodicals collection and the third floor information desk last October, a position she currently holds.

According to her supervisor, Melissa is an employee who will do whatever job needs doing, someone who is always available to take on new responsibilities and to learn new skills. I was particularly impresssed by her planning efforts for the relocation of library collections. Her contribution helped to make this an orderly, planned undertaking. She has developed a system to log all bound periodicals on the basis of size and growth potential, something that is helpful in planning space allocation on an ongoing basis.

Melissa is to be congratulated on earning this distinction so soon after joining the staff of the University Libraries. Congratulations!
