General features of animals

The following features characterize members of the Kingdom Animalia:

(f) Diverse in Habitat
The animal kingdom includes about 35 phyla, most of which occur in the sea. Far fewer phyla occur in fresh water, and fewer still occur on land. Members of three successful marine phyla, Arthropoda (insects), Mollusca (snails), and Chordata (vertebrates), also dominate animal life on land.
