Microbial Ecology of Tropical Reefs

My lab currently centers on the microbiology of corals, but I am intestered in microbiology of tropical reefs in general. The future of lab is largely dependent on the interests of the students who join the lab.

Here are some topics that would be fit well into the lab: questions concerning the role(s) of microbes in tropical food webs, bottom and top down control of mircobial numbers, microbial regulation of the carbon cycle, disease ecology of animals, plants, and other organisms in the oceans, marine microbial genomics, host-virus evolution, host-microbe evolution, symbiosis, and effects of abiotic change on microbial community structure and function.
