Birth. (No date found), Benevento. He is also listed as Bernardo da Benevento.

Education. (No information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal bishop of Palestrina in the consistory celebrated on September 5, 1092 (1). Consecrated (no information found). Subscribed a papal bull issued on September 14, 1092. Legate in the Orient to expel Patriarch Ebremaro di Thérouanne from the see of Jerusalem.

Death. Ca. 1098, Rome (2). Buried in the monastery of Monte Cassino. The epitaph on his tomb was composed by Alfano, archbishop of Salerno (3).

Cardella, Memorie storiche de' cardinali della Santa Romana Chiesa, I, pt. 1, 187, says that he was not promoted to the cardinalate by Popes Urban II or Paschal II and does not give any date for it. Chacón, Vitæ, et res gestæ Pontificvm Romanorum et S. R. E. Cardinalivm, I, col. 887, says that he was created cardinal by Pope Urban II.
(2) This is according to "Essai de liste générale des cardinaux. Les cardinaux du XIè siècle". Annuaire Pontifical Catholique 1927, p. 149, no. 4. Cardella, Memorie storiche de' cardinali della Santa Romana Chiesa, I, pt. 1, 188, says that he died in 1107, after having returned from his legation.
