Birth. (No date found), Sicily. He is also listed as Nicolaus Claromonte; and his last name as Chiaromonti.

Education. Entered the Order of the Cistercians.

Priesthood. Ordained (no further information found).

Cardinalate. Created cardinal bishop of Frascati in a consistory of 1219. Consecrated by Pope Honorius III (no further information found). Subscribed the papal bulls issued between December 15, 1220 and May 9, 1226. Legate in Germany before Emperor Friedrich II in 1220, after the loss of Damietta, for the Crusade. Participated in the papal election of 1227, in which was elected Pope Gregory IX.

Death. September 25, 1227, Rome. Buried in the church of S. Maria in Monasterio, which was demolished in the 16th century.
