Birth. 1339, diocese of Limoges, France. Son of Adhémar d'Aigrefeuille. Nephew of Pope Clement VI. Nephew of Cardinal Guillaume d'Aigrefeuille, seniore (1350); and of Pseudocardinal Faydit d'Aigrefeuille, O.S.B. (1383). His last name is also listed as Agrifoglio.

Education. Entered the Order of Saint Benedict (Benedictines) at Cluny. Obtained a doctorate in canon law at the University of Toulouse.

Priesthood. Ordained (no further information found). Dean of the cathedral chapter of Clermont toward 1362. Protonotary apostolic. Auditor of the Sacred Roman Rota.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest of S. Stefano al Monte Celio in the consistory of May 12, 1367. Prebendary of Charminster and Bere, 1370-1374. Prebendary of Highworth, 1371. Archdeacon of Berkshire, 1371-1384. Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church from 1369; deposed by Urban VI in 1378; retained the post in the obedience of Avignon until his death. Testamentary executor of Pope Gregory XI in March 1378. Participated in the conclave of April 1378, which elected Pope Urban VI. Participated in the conclave of September 1378, which elected Antipope Clement VII, and joined his obedience. Legate of the antipope in Germany from November 29, 1378 until January 25, 1385. Cardinal protoprete in May 1385. Participated in the conclave of 1394, which elected Antipope Benedict XIII. Afterward, he retired to the house of his nephew Alzias d'Aigrefeuille. In his will, he left all his patrimonial possessions to his brother Jean d'Aigrefeuille.

Death. January 13, 1401, Avignon. Buried in the chapel of Saint-Étienne in the collegiate church of Saint-Martial in Avignon (1).
