Cardinalate. Presbyter cardinalis of an unknown title in a promotion celebrated at an unknown date. On June 27, 870, he was sent as legate, along with four bishops (Giovanni, Pietro, Wibodo and Giovanni), before the archbishops and bishops of the kingdom of King Louis the German (1) to solve the conflict with Charles the Bold, who had invaded Louis' kingdom.The papal document issued for the legation was entitled "Sacrorum itaque".

(1) He is also listed as Ludwig or Lewis the German and also known as Louis II or Louis the Bavarian (806 to 28 August 876); he was a grandson of Charlemagne and the third son of the succeeding Frankish Emperor Louis the Pious and his first wife, Ermengarde of Hesbaye. After 858, his kingdom comprised East and West France.
