1. Contestants must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at FIU. In addition, no more than six months shall have elapsed between the completion of the first semester and the beginning of the succeeding applicable semester.

  2. Contestants must have an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 for all hours earned while enrolled at FIU.

  3. Contestants must maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined in the current Undergraduate Catalog and the current Graduate Catalog, as appropriate.

  4. Contestants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university, defined as not being on academic or disciplinary probation.

  5. Contestants must be free of any holds on university records.

  6. Contestants must never have been married.

  7. Contestants must have always been female.

  8. Contestants must be no younger than 17 years of age on April 1, 2010, and no older than 24 years of age on September 30, 2012.

  9. Contestants must be a citizen of the United States of America.

  10. Contestants must be of good moral character and have never been pregnant, nor currently be pregnant, nor been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude.

  11. Contestants must have never been convicted of any crime, nor have a criminal charge pending against them.

  12. Contestants must not be currently holding another title in the Miss America system and never have been a State Finalist who competed in the National Finals of the Miss America Pageant.

  13. Contestants may participate in as many pageants as she wants, as long as she meets all deadlines and rehearsals affiliated with the Miss FIU Pageant. Note: If a contestant does not attend rehearsals and/or elects not to compete in the Miss FIU Pageant AFTER completing the contract form, she will be banned from competing in any local pageants affiliated with the Miss Florida Pageant.

  14. A contestant is ineligible to compete in a local pageant in the same year she has been selected a winner in another local, and is ineligible to compete in a local pageant if she was selected the winner of said pageant in the previous year.  A contestant may, however, compete after giving up her title if her local pageant director has given his/her consent in writing.

Contestant Responsibilities:

  1. Contestants may only compete in one (1) State Final leading to the National Finals of the 2010 Miss America Pageant and can only have one local title at any time.

  2. Contestants must participate in all events leading up to the final selection of the Miss FIU Scholarship Pageant.

  3. Contestants must meet submission deadlines for all forms, biographies, photos, program book ads, and other date sensitive materials.

  4. If selected to be Miss FIU 2010, the contestant must serve until a successor is selected or appointed.
It is the responsibility of the contestant to claim monetary scholarships. Each winning contestant has one full calendar year to claim their scholarship.
