The DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY at FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY seeks applicants for open rank, tenure track positions in three areas: (1) CHILD/ADOLESCENT CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY specializing in research in ADHD and/or related disorders; (2) DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY with research interests in child cognitive development or developmental neuropsychology/neuroscience; (3) LEGAL PSYCHOLOGY with an interest in interfacing with the FIU School of Law. We also seek applicants for a non-tenure track INSTRUCTOR position.

CHILD/ADOLESCENT CLINICALPSYCHOLOGY: The College of Arts & Sciences has targeted Clinical Science as an area for enhancement and the Department will begin a new Clinical Science doctoral program focused on Childhood and Adolescence in Fall, 2010. Any area of research related to ADHD is acceptable, though we are especially interested in candidates with research relevant to intervention, prevention, and practice in school, peer, home, community, or primary care settings. The successful candidate will join an exceptionally strong, research-oriented faculty of child-adolescent clinical psychologists and a collaborating child psychiatrist, with strength in both internalizing and externalizing disorders. Preference will be given to applicants with strong research credentials, a record of and current NIH or IES funding (required at senior levels), and a commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research with existing faculty. The program will have ties with FIU’s new Medical School and with the Developmental Science program in Psychology. The faculty includes senior investigators experienced in obtaining funding and mentoring junior faculty. The program will be located adjacent to an on-campus clinical research center with strong departmental, cross-school, and administrative support, and state-of-the-art facilities. It will have extensive relationships with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, primary care physicians, Miami Children’s Hospital, and mental health and community-service agencies. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY: Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in CHILD COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT or DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY/NEUROSCIENCE. The position begins Fall 2010. A Ph.D. in Psychology or related area is required. The successful candidate will join nationally prominent faculty in the Department’s doctoral program in Developmental Science. Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in research and demonstrate strong potential to obtain external funding. Area of focus is open. We especially welcome applicants with a focus on language and/or conceptual development, and/or linking behavioral and biological levels of analysis. The successful candidate will join a nationally prominent doctoral program in Legal Psychology, will advise doctoral students, and must have the potential to make a significant contribution to the discipline. Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in research, demonstrate potential to obtain external funding, interface with the School of Law, and be committed to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. INSTRUCTOR: This is a full time, non-tenure track position at FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus to begin Fall 2010. A Ph.D. degree and experience in teaching at the college level in Psychology are required. Ability to teach a wide range of courses is desired.
