Current and recent laboratory members:
Dr. DeEtta ( Dee) Mills is the Director of FIU's International Forensics Research Institute's DNA Profiling Facility. Her area of expertise is microbial molecular ecology. She is an active collaborator in our laboratory research.
Dr. Miroslav (Miro) Gantar is an expert in the physiology and characterization of cyanotoxins. He is Reseach Scientist affiliated with our lab.
Aaron Miller, Ph.D. ,student, is working on a model of the BBD infection process using molecular, SEM, TEM and experimental (manipulative) approaches coordinated with field assessment.
Lonnie Kaczmarsky, Ph.D. student, is studying the relationship between coral diseases and the environment on reefs of the Eastern Caribbean and the Philippines, and the molecular microbiology of black band disease.
Beth Zimmer: Beth is working on her Master's degree on antibiotic production by of black band disease- associated microorganisms.
Kristin Kuehl is a Masters student investigating disease resistance to BBD on reefs of Bermuda.
Dina Stanic is a Maters student characterizing the black band disease Oscillatoria found on reefs worldwide.
