Set Up Your FIU Web Site Account

1. Click on the Windows Start Menu.

2. Click “Run”.

3. Type “telnet solix.fiu.edu”

4. Press Enter.

5. Enter your FIU username. Your username is the first half of your FIU email address. (Ex. userfiu@fiu.edu)

6. Enter your Password. Your password is your birth date in this format mm/dd/yyyy

7. Change your password when prompted to do so.

8. Type “websetup”.

9. Press Enter.

10. Choose b and follow the onscreen instructions.

11. Choose c and follow the onscreen instructions.

12. Type “exit” then press enter to log off of the telnet application.

13. Your website address will be http://www.fiu.edu/~yourusername/

Use Windows explorer to upload your web pages.

1. Right Click “My Computer” or any folder.

2. Choose “Explore”.

3. Type: ftp://username@solix.fiu.edu/ (“username” should be your user name)

4. Press Enter.

5. Type your username and password in the Log on Window

6. Press “ Log On”

7. Copy your website files to the www folder. If there is no www folder, create one and then copy your files there.

8. Your website address will be http://www.fiu.edu/~yourusername/

FTP Info

To FTP (upload files) to your web account use these settings with your ftp program

Server: solix.fiu.edu

Username: yourusername

Password: yourpassword
