Graduation Requirements for The Biomedical and Premedical honors Track:
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5 in all science and mathematics courses.

  • Completion of the B.S. requirements in Biology, including BSC 4915L (Honors Research, 1-3 credits) and BSC 4970 (Honors Thesis, 3 credits)

  • Completion of one of the following:  ANT 3462 Medical Anthropology, PHI 4633 Biomedical Ethics, REL 3180 Medical and Bioethics or SYO 3400 Medical Sociology.

  • Completion of MAC 2312 Calculus II

  • Completion of Honors research in collaboration with Honors supervisor and presentation of results to the Biomedical and Premedical Honors Track Committee.  The research results and thesis must then be approved by the Biomedical and Premedical Honors Track Committee.

  • Deposition of a completed approved copy of the Honors thesis with the Biological Sciences undergraduate office.

  • Presentation of the results of the Honors Research in a departmental seminar.

It is highly recommended that prior to beginning BSC 4915L, students complete a workshop offered by the program that will give them experience in reading and critiquing primary scientific literature, analyzing data, and preparing PowerPoint and poster presentations.
