Dr. Ray Thomlison is Professor and Director of the School of Social Work at Florida International
University.

Dr. Thomlison obtained his doctorate from the University of Toronto, where he was professor for ten
years. Before assuming his responsibilities at Florida International University, Dr. Thomlison was Dean of
the Faculty Social Work at the University of Calgary for fifteen years. He has taught at various universities
throughout Canada including Wilfred Lowry University, University of British Columbia, York University
and the University of Regina.

Dr. Thomlison's academic have research interest expand the areas of applied behavior and analysis, family
therapy, family and marriage therapy, child welfare, and international social work education. He published
extensively in these areas, both in refereed journals and others. He is the co-editor and author of five
books. During the past decade, Dr. Thomlison has been called upon as a consultant in the development of
Universities Social Work Educational programs in both Russia and China.Dr. Thomlison has considerable
experience as Board Member of various social work agencies and organizations. His most recent
voluntary experience was as a member of the steering committee that developed a new privatize service
delivery system for the Province of Alberta.
