Departmental Spotlight:
Campus Life at Modesto A. Maidique (MMC) Mission Statement
The Department of Campus Life aspires to engage students in holistic learning by instilling diversity, leadership and personal development through its programs and services. By educating and mentoring students, Campus Life seeks to provide our students an opportunity to make meaningful connections and become leaders in a global community.
Our office interfaces with thousands of students creating opportunities for involvement. Studies consistently show that students who are involved in clubs and organizations are more likely to persist and be successful in college. We work intentionally with our students to help them grow in 10 competency areas emphasized by our department. Our students are involved in Student Government, Black Student Union, Student Programming Council, Homecoming, Panther Rage, Graduate Student Association, Council for Student Organizations (200+ clubs), and our 38 fraternities and sororities.
Our marquee events include:
- Student Life Awards
- Spring concert (over 4,000 students attended last year)
- Homecoming programs
- Lecture series (ex. Solidad O’Brien, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. this year)
- Club Fair
- Gradskellers
- Comedians and speakers
- Partnership with other student organizations and departments
